Regarding the continuous house arrest of Syed Ali Geelani and not allowing Mirwaiz Umer Farooq to offer Friday prayers, DGP said that Syed Ali Geelani was converting the religious platforms into political one, which was creating law and order problem.

“If Geelani wants to offer prayers only, who stops him, but the problem is that he converts every religious platform into political one which can’t be allowed. He can offer prayers at Hyderpora mosque, what is the need to rush to Sopore or other areas to offer Friday prayers.” DGP said, adding that no one stops Geelani offering prayers at Malviya Nagar, New Delhi or Mirwaiz Umer Farooq during his visits to Geneva or any other place.

Meanwhile DGP along with IGP, Kashmir Ab. Gani Mir, IGP CRPF and DIG south Kashmir visited Shopian and held closed door meetings with the CRPF personnel one by one. The DGP also visited the spots where the firing incidents took place and also took stock of the situation in the district.

According to sourced, DGP also discussed the relocation of the CRPF personnel camped in the Gagran camp.
