SRINAGAR: Flight operations at Srinagar Airport will be restricted between 8 am and 5 pm from April 6 as the Indian Air Force undertakes runway upgradation work, which is expected to continue through the summer months.
At present, around 60 flights, including arrivals and departures, operate daily between 8 am and 10 pm. However, as per a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Indian Air Force, scheduled flight operations will be limited to revised timings starting April 6 due to ongoing runway maintenance.

The Srinagar Airport authorities stated on X that while watch hours will be reduced, flight movements are expected to align with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-approved summer schedule, with airlines adjusting operations accordingly within the new time frame.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) said it remains committed to ensuring safe and smooth operations and advised passengers to rely on official updates and avoid unverified information.
Officials did not specify the duration of the restriction, though sources indicated that the upgradation work may continue until autumn. They added that runway strengthening is a routine exercise undertaken every 10–15 years to improve surface conditions.
The timing of the restrictions, coinciding with the onset of the tourism season, has raised concern among stakeholders, who fear it may affect tourist arrivals. Travel industry representatives have also warned that reduced flight availability could lead to higher airfares, potentially discouraging visitors.
