According to the advisory, slow movement was witnessed on highwwawy due to the breakdown of heavy vehicles and poor road conditions at several stretches between Nashri and Banihal. Authorities said commuters are advised to follow lane discipline as overtaking could lead to congestion.

The Traffic Police said passengers and Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) operators should avoid travelling during night hours on the highway due to apprehensions of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

Goods carriers and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) operators have been asked to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel while travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

For July 8, subject to fair weather and better road conditions, Amarnath Yatra (SANJY) convoys, LMVs, passenger and private vehicles will be allowed from both sides on NH-44 — from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa. Traffic Control Units (TCUs) at Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing vehicles.

The advisory further stated that HMVs will be allowed after assessment of road and traffic conditions by authorities.

On the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road, movement of vehicles will be permitted from both sides after clearance from concerned agencies, while traffic on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road will remain regulated.

The Mughal Road connecting Shopian with Poonch will also remain open for traffic, subject to favourable weather and road conditions.

Officials advised people to confirm the latest road status from Traffic Control Units before starting their journey.
