SRINAGAR: Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal on Saturday, leading the first BJP government in the state’s history.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Governor RN Ravi at a formal ceremony held at Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, and senior BJP leaders.
The formation of the new government follows the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong electoral performance in the state Assembly polls, where it won 207 seats in the 294-member House. The result ended the 15-year rule of the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
