SRINAGAR: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday visited the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, evaluating the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC).
Accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Singh received a detailed briefing on the security landscape, counter-infiltration measures, and operational readiness.
In discussions with ground commanders, Singh said, “Professional conduct and due diligence are imperative in our operations.” Addressing the troops, he paid respects to fallen soldiers and extended condolences to their families, adding, “We wish a swift recovery for the injured.” Assuring the Armed Forces of the government’s support, Singh underscored their paramount importance and ongoing efforts to enhance security and intelligence capabilities.
Expressing concern over recent incidents, Singh urged troops to operate based on solid intelligence, stating, “There should be zero tolerance towards terrorism.” He emphasized the need for vigilance to prevent untoward incidents, stating, “Remain extra vigilant so that no unfortunate incident occurs in the future.”
Meeting with families in the village Topa Peer of Bufliaz in Poonch district, Singh assured, “We will ensure an expeditious investigation into the incident, culminating in the deliverance of justice.” He acknowledged the synergy between security forces, civil administration, J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces, and other agencies, stating, “This collaboration sends a clear message of resoluteness towards improving the security environment.”
Commending local contributions, Singh highlighted the significance of unity in thought, stating, “Unity in thought and collective resolve are the foundations for achieving shared aspirations of peace and development.” The visit followed the Chief of Army Staff’s exhortation on December 25, emphasizing professional conduct, resilience, and commitment to human rights, stating, “We conduct operations most professionally while remaining resolute and steadfast against all challenges.”
