SRINAGAR: Tanvir Sadiq, MLA for Zadibal, on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of discriminating against the people of Jammu and called for an investigation into the utilisation of funds by a Member of Parliament from the region.
Speaking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sadiq alleged that the party had failed to safeguard the interests of Jammu’s residents. He said the BJP had claimed to provide adequate representation to Poonch and Rajouri by nominating a tribal leader to Parliament, but asserted that funds intended for the region were spent in Uttar Pradesh.
Questioning the decision, Sadiq noted that Uttar Pradesh already elects 80 Members of Parliament and argued that diverting development funds outside Jammu and Kashmir amounted to an injustice to the people of Poonch and Rajouri.
He further alleged that the expenditure was routed through a limited number of companies and demanded a comprehensive probe to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
