SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Department has forecast a three-day wet spell across Jammu and Kashmir from July 21 to 23, issuing yellow and orange alerts for the period.

Temperatures across the Valley remained high on Friday, with Srinagar recording a maximum of 32.7°C. Qazigund registered 32.5°C, Pahalgam 27.3°C, Kupwara 32.5°C, Kokernag 31.4°C, and Gulmarg 22.0°C.
The Jammu division also recorded above-normal temperatures. The weather is expected to remain hot and humid on Saturday, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers likely at scattered to fairly widespread places.
Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers is expected at many places from July 21 to 23, with heavy rainfall at isolated locations.
He added that brief showers are also possible between July 24 and 27 at scattered locations.
The department has warned of intense showers with gusty winds, heavy rainfall at isolated to scattered locations, and potential flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones during July 21–23. A rise in water levels in rivers, streams, and local nallahs, along with waterlogging in low-lying areas, is also expected.
Farmers have been advised to complete spraying activities by Saturday. (KNO)
