SRINAGAR: PDP leader and MLA Pulwama Waheed Para on Wednesday expressed his disapproval on social media platform X, accusing the NC of side-lining its historical commitment to autonomy. He labelled the resolution as “hollow” and a “betrayal” of Kashmiri people’s interests.
The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly adopted a resolution reaffirming the importance of the former state’s special status. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary moved the resolution, which divided the house. The BJP opposed it, while other members supported it.
In a tweet, Waheed Para wrote “The NC’s latest resolution, as proposed by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, does nothing but add insult to the injury inflicted upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019,” tweeted Para, referring to the abrogation of Article 370 that removed Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
Surrender Can Never Be Struggle
The National Conference’s (NC) latest resolution, as proposed by the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, does nothing but add insult to the injury inflicted upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. By presenting this inert and hollow…

Para criticised the resolution for its vague language, arguing that it was merely symbolic and lacked actionable commitments. He claimed the terms like “constitutional guarantees” create an “illusion of commitment” without offering “a clear path to action or protection,” calling the resolution “a deceitful farce” designed to “mislead, pacify, and ultimately, betray.”
The PDP, according to Para, plans to propose amendments to strengthen the resolution and address what they consider to be fundamental issues with its language. Para stated that the NC’s proposal “hides behind ambiguous wording designed to appease those who stripped us of our rights.” He also emphasised that the current resolution does not align with the spirit of the Kashmiri people’s struggle, calling it NC’s “final act of surrender on the Autonomy Resolution of 2000.” He also mentioned briefly the three amendments that need to be made.
