Severe traffic crisis has resulted on North Kashmir’s Bandipora as people have blocked the communication network.

Reports and commuters said that for last three hours, locals of Saderkoot Payeen are protesting against the non-availability of drinking water in the area.

“There is complete mess on the roads connecting Bandipora with summer capital,” an academic, Altaf Mir, told Kashmir Life over phone, “I am stuck near Saderkoot since I left home around 7 AM.”

Altaf Mir is on way to attend his school in Manasbal. A resident of main Bandipora, he is already late by an hour and thirty minutes.

Locals of Saderkoot Payeen said that since the start of Ramzan there is no water in the area. “We have been pushed to wall,” a local said, “no one cares, so we thought it as the prudent way to put forward our demand.”

Commuters, mostly students and employees, are on way to Srinagar and other areas, after holidaying on Sunday.

“Around 1000 vehicles are stuck,” a commuter said. “People are fasting and temperatures are hot; it is painful having left home early.”

To cool down the tempers of locals, passengers had tried to intervene but to no avail. “It pains where it pinches,” the protesting locals responded, “get back into you buses that will be good for you.”

Amid intense anti-administration sloganeering, the locals are demanding immediate presence of Deputy Commissioner and Executive engineer PHE Bandipora.
