SRINAGAR: The Turkish period serial Dirilis: Ertugrul is not popular in Kashmir alone. It is being watched by bigwigs in Bollywood too.
The revelation came recently when Bollywood’s famous onscreen couple, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, flew to Turkey for the shooting of Tiger 3. They addressed media with Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister at the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul’s Besiktas district.
There, reporters asked them if they have watched any Turkish dramas.
To this question, Katrina quickly responded: “Yes! Etrugrul. It is my favourite. I have seen some 89 episodes of it. I absolutely love that show.”
It was the turn of Dabangg star, Salman Khan. “My mother loves that show, she watches it all the time.”
The long show is based on the thirteenth-century struggle of the shepherd Kayi tribe led by Osman’s father in fighting Mongols and Christians for survival. Osman later founded history’s biggest caliphate that was spread over almost half the of the world. The same producer has done a similar show on Osman and so far it has had two seasons.
The show is one of the most-watched shows on earth and after its uploading and language dubbing on social media, people across the globe have been binge-watching the period drama.
