A group of 30 youth of South Kashmir returned home on August 30 after attending ‘National Integration’ tour which
was conducted by 19 Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles.

According to a defence communique, the youth had gone on a 17 days excursion to Jammu-Mumbai-Goa from August 14 to 30. “During the tour, they visited prestigious Afghan Church, Chowpatty and The Tomb of Haji Ali at Mumbai. They got an exposure to the diverse but rich culture and heritage of India. The tour also visited Church of Immaculate Conception, Jama Masjid and Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary at Goa,” it said.

For most of these youths, it was a maiden experience to travel by railways across the country. The tour culminated at Larikpur in Islamabad District as the youth were flagged in during an impressive ceremony wherein they were received by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Farooq Ahmad who was the chief guest on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, he exhorted the tour members to make the most out of their exposure to the cosmopolitan society. He added that sharing of these experiences by the tour members with their peers would encourage a healthy and progressive mind set thereby, coaxing them to aim for a brighter future for themselves as well as for the state and the nation.
