SRINAGAR: India has begun the first phase of evacuating its citizens stranded in Iran amid the ongoing Israel-Iran hostilities. Around 110 Indian medical students, including 90 from Kashmir, were evacuated from Urmia Medical University and have safely entered Armenia early this morning.
Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) national convenor Nasir Khuehami said 110 students, including 90 from Kashmir, have been evacuated from Iran and are now safe in Armenia.
The group crossed the Iran-Armenia land border overnight and is travelling by road to Yerevan. They are expected to reach the Armenian capital by midday (around 12 or 1 PM), Nasir said after speaking with several evacuees en route.
JKSA has urged the remaining students to stay in contact with embassy helplines and follow official advisories. (JKNS)
