The approval has been granted under the Capex Budget 2026–27 in favour of the Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir. The project will be executed in accordance with approved technical specifications and codal procedures to ensure quality, efficiency and timely completion.
The project is intended to address the rising pressure on road space caused by the increasing number of vehicles and the lack of organized parking facilities. The proposed structure is expected to regulate roadside parking and ensure smoother vehicular movement in key areas of Ganderbal, which frequently witness traffic bottlenecks.
The initiative forms part of the government’s broader push to upgrade infrastructure and improve civic amenities in growing urban centres across Jammu and Kashmir. Officials noted that better parking management will not only reduce congestion but also enhance accessibility to commercial areas and public spaces.
Upon completion, the facility is expected to ease traffic flow in busy zones of the town, providing relief to commuters and contributing to a more organized and efficient urban landscape in Ganderbal.
