The Chief Minister intervened during supplementary questions raised by several MLAs in the Question Hour, acknowledging that the land record process is not error-free, with complaints received from people claiming ownership of land either wrongly recorded or unregistered in official records.

“There should be no haste. We are not in a race to complete the process within six months. Accuracy is the priority,” Abdullah said, adding that the government will take the necessary time to ensure no incorrect records are digitised. He also said the department would consider suggestions from Assembly members while implementing corrective measures.

Earlier, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, responding on behalf of the Chief Minister, informed the House that 15,516 non-quasi-judicial errors have been identified and rectified on the spot by field agencies in Tehsils Devsar, Frisal, and Qaimoh.

He added that 185 quasi-judicial errors in digitised Jamabandis were detected during public verification and have been forwarded to competent authorities for further action. The process of error rectification is ongoing, after which Jamabandis will be read publicly.

Rana also clarified that no proprietary land was lost during recent floods in Kulgam district. He further informed the House that in Tehsil Qaimoh, a landless beneficiary has been allotted five marlas of land under the PMAY-G scheme.
