Prevailing curfew and restrictions in the city imposed in the backdrop of death of a civilian in Saidpora area on Wednesday in alleged unprovoked firing by CRPF personnel, have affected medical services badly.
“Neither doctors nor the paramedical staff are able to reach to their places of duty due to harsh restrictions enforced by the police and paramilitary forces”, officials told KNS.
Patients, hailing from curfew bound areas, along with their attendants are trapped in the city hospitals, they added.
Officials said, “Even the medicos and paramedics residing in old City are finding it difficult to reach their duties”.
The functioning of the OPD Departments at LD, SMHS and other major Hospitals was disrupted with dwindling inflow of patients and non availability of doctors.
“Patients who were to be discharged could not be allowed to leave because of the prevailing curfew”, officials added.
“The indoor patients also suffered as they could not even purchase the essentials medicines which are not available within the Hospital”, said a medico.
