SRINAGAR: Speculations are being made that Kashmir may be renamed Kashyap after Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech at the Book Launch of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh: Through the Ages in Delhi. Many X handles added fuel to the rumours. However, the Union Home Minister did not say so.

In his speech at the book launch, he said “Kashmir is known for Kashyapa and Kashmir may have been named after Kashyapa.”

A news organisation News Nine published the news under the headline, “Kashmir could be named Kashyap: Amit Shah’s big statement at book launch.”

Not only news organisations, many Twitter handles shared the news of renaming Kashmir as Kashyap.

During his speech, the Home Minister stated that India stands unique as the only nation in the world defined by its geo-cultural identity, with its boundaries shaped by its culture. He emphasised that India can only be fully comprehended through its cultural lens rather than a geo-political perspective.
