Violating the norms, Forest department has posted two Divisional Forest Officers in a span of 48 hours for a single vacancy in Baramullah Forest Division. One of the officers is reportedly facing an investigation by Vigilance Organization on graft charges.

Sources in the Department told KNS that Principal Chief Conservator Kashmir issued an order vide order No. 1192/1196 on 27 April, regarding the posting of Abdul Rashid Mir as DFO for JV Division Baramullah. However, surprisingly, the PCCF surprisingly issued another order PS/C/S/FST-CAMP,J-2013 dated. 29-04-2013, within 48 hours, giving an additional charge of the post to DFO Langath Hakeem Mukhtar who, sources sad does not full fill the requisite qualification for becoming a DFO.

“For becoming a DFO, an officer must pass PSC, the officer given an additional charge has not qualified the exam, but still he is now holding charges of two divisions,” said the sources.

When contacted Commissioner Secretary Forests Shiekh Iqbal told KNS that he had no officer available for Baramullah division.

“Since Langeth is close to Baramullah, that is why, Mir has been given additional charge,”  Iqbal told KNS, he however defended his decision and said, “Unless one is not proven guilty, we cannot call him a criminal,” Iqbal said.
