The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has constituted various teams for visiting the jails located in different parts of the Jammu province in order to provide legal aid and assistance to the detenues, under trial prisoners and convicts there.

Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, general secretary HCBA told a local news agency, KNS, that in pursuance to the orders passed by the High court, the HCBA has constituted various teams and the first team headed by Advocate Bilal Ahmad Wani left Thursday for Jammu, wherefrom they will first proceed to Rajouri and then to Poonch and meet the prisoners lodged over there and after interacting with them, will find out as to what kind of problems these prisoners are facing in District Jail Rajouri and District Jail Poonch.

“Two more teams, one headed by Bar President Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom and the other team headed by Vice President Aijaz Bedar will leave Friday for Jammu and visit District Jail Kathua, District Jail Amphalla Jammu, Central Jail Kotebalwal Jammu, District Jail Udhampur, Sub Jail Hira Nagar and District Jail Kishtwar and meet the detenues, under trial prisoners and convicts lodged in those jails and after enquiring from them about their problems will ensure the providing of all kind of legal aid and assistance to them,” Bhat told KNS.

The teams, he said,  will also meet the Pakistani prisoners lodged in these jails and on their return, will submit their reports to the Bar Association which after examination will be placed before the High Court for passing of necessary orders in the light of what will be projected in those reports.
