“Once again resorting to dictatorial tactics the entire valley was put under curfew and APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continues to be under house arrest, was not allowed to offer Friday prayers at historic Jamia Masjid”, said Hurriyat (M) spokesman in a statement issued here.
The Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the government for not allowing congregational prayers at Jamia Masjid and other Masjids, Khanqahs and Imam Baras across Kashmir.
The spokesman also denounced the house detention of Mirwaiz and Agha Syed Hassan Al Moosvi, adding, the party condemns government for not allowing the religious leaders to deliver Friday sermons and prayers in the Masjids. The APHC has termed the government action as anti-Islam and a direct infringement into the religious affairs.
“The power drunken authorities are hell bent to violate Social, moral, religious, and democratic rights of Kashmiris. Indian forces and police have announced an open war against the Kashmiris”, the Hurriyat spokesman said.
The party said on one hand the government has given impunity to its forces under black laws who are targeting and killing the innocent Kashmiris like sitting ducks, adding, on the other hand the people, who want to protest against the government sponsored terrorism, are incarcerated in their homes by imposing curfews and restrictions. It said there is a concerted effort on part of the despotic government to trample the political aspirations of Kashmiris under the jackboot of forces. “This Nazi tactics has been the official policy of the government to break the will of Kashmiris”.
The spokesman questioned as to how long the curfew, restrictions, arrests, house detentions would continue. He said the entire valley was already caged, leaders were either house arrested or put behind bars, the workers and activities were locked up in Jail.
The spokesman has appealed the international community to take strong notice of the human rights violation in Kashmir. He said that basic human and religious rights of Kashmiris were usurped by the authorities and the time has come that international community should intervene.
Meanwhile APHC has thanked Pakistan for passing a resolution in the senate demanding the return of the body of martyr Afzal Guru. The spokesman said that Pakistan was the only supporter of Kashmir freedom struggle and has continued to lend moral, political, and diplomatic support for the K cause.
The party has expressed concern over the shifting of senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah from Srinagar Central Jail to Kot Bilwal Jail. The spokesman said that government was fearful of the programmes of leaders. He said the government is leaving no stone unturned to weaken the Hurriyat Conference, ‘but it would never succeed in its nefarious designs’.
