SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday announced the reopening of eight tourist destinations in Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters in South Kashmir, LG Sinha said, “Tourist destinations were closed after the April 22 terror attack as a precautionary measure. After assessing the situation, it has been decided that the closed destinations will be reopened for tourists in a phased manner.”
LG Sinha said that, to begin with, Betab Valley, Verinag, Kokernag, and Achabal gardens, along with parks in the Pahalgam market, will be thrown open to the public in Anantnag district.
In Srinagar, Badamwari, Duck Park, and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal will also be reopened.
LG Sinha expressed hope that the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra will help revive tourism in Kashmir. “I urge people to come forward and make the annual pilgrimage successful,” he said.
“This is your Yatra. It will help improve your economy and revive tourism.” (KNO)
