Led by the presidents of the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (JKCEGA) and the Jammu & Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA), the delegation called on the senior leaders at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and submitted key demands affecting the engineering fraternity across departments.

Among the critical issues raised were the immediate issuance of the SRO for ACP, regularisation of engineers in the PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering departments, filling of vacant posts, and referral of junior engineer (mechanical) vacancies to recruitment agencies without delay.

The Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation of prompt action and said that efforts would be made to ensure early redressal of their concerns. He also acknowledged the role of engineers in the state’s infrastructure development and public welfare.

In a separate, detailed interaction with Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, the delegation highlighted the chronic stagnation facing engineers due to limited sanctioned posts at higher levels such as Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, and Chief Engineer. They underscored that the absence of career advancement has not only affected morale but also hindered productivity.

The Advisor responded positively and committed to taking immediate steps towards implementing the ACP scheme. He agreed that addressing the demands would enhance institutional efficiency and ensure fair treatment of engineering professionals.

The delegation expressed hope that the assurances would translate into concrete policy action in the coming weeks.
