SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved the select list of 39 candidates for appointment as Civil Judges (Junior Division), marking a significant development in the Union Territory’s judicial administration.
The approval was accorded by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs through Government Order No. 6639-JK(LD) of 2026, issued from the Civil Secretariat on May 25, 2026. The appointments have been authorised by the Lieutenant Governor under Rule 39 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Judicial) Recruitment Rules, 1967, following recommendations made by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) through its communication dated May 16, 2026.
The selected candidates have been appointed across Open Merit and various reserved categories in accordance with the reservation policy of the Union Territory.
Among those selected are Anshul Lal Sharma, Amjed Iqbal, Ufaq Mushtaq, Anchal Gupta, Vasudha Sharma, Muskan Puri, Abdul Nafeh Rehmani, Deekhsha Sharma, Tarush Kumar Oberoi, Shikha Jamwal, Kritika Jain, Gaurang Resutra, Mohmad Aleem Syed, Sonam, Sharida Rashid and Manvika Koshal under Open Merit.
Candidates selected under reserved categories include Shazia Manzoor (RBA), Saiga Sharief Khan (ST2), Stanzin Itzes Chosket (ST1), Rasleen Kour (EWS), Syed Sibtain Mehdi (ST2), Priyanka Bhardwaj (SC), Vatsalya Chadha (ST2), Amar Kumar (SC), Anamika Angral (SC), Shuhab Shabir (SLC), Mudasir Fazal Dader (ST1), Shweta Shavan (SC), Nusrat Kabir (RBA), Sahiba Banotra (SLC), Syeed Faheem (RBA), Abaid Ullah (ST1), Sanyogita Saini (ALC), Mohd Sala Ud Din (ST1), Zahir Irshad Butt (EWS), Riju Gupta (ALC), Dawood Ahmad Bhat (RBA/PHC-L), Tania Mahajan (EWS) and Divyam (EWS).
The Commissioner Secretary, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Achal Sethi, has forwarded the matter to the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh for placing it before the full court to secure the final recommendations required under Rule 42 of the Judicial Recruitment Rules.
The Government has also directed the Government Press in Jammu and Srinagar to publish the order in the official Gazette.
