The visiting dignitaries include Justices Vinod S. Bharadwaj, Pankaj Jain, Jasjit Singh Bedi, Nidhi Gupta, Harkesh Manuja, Aman Choudhary, N.S. Shekawat, and Vikram Aggarwal. Their itinerary, rich with local colour and heritage, has taken them through the manicured terraced splendour of the Mughal Gardens at Shalimar and Nishat, the historic ruins of Pari Mahal, a leisurely sunset shikara ride on Dal Lake, and the bustling lanes of Polo View Market.

The timing of the visit is particularly significant. It follows closely on the heels of the recent Pahalgam incident, which had cast a shadow over the tourism narrative. But the presence of a judicial delegation of such stature is being widely seen as a strong endorsement of Kashmir’s stability and hospitality.

“This is not just a personal visit—it’s a message to the country that Kashmir remains welcoming and safe,” said a prominent Srinagar-based tour operator. “We’ve already seen an uptick in bookings this week.”

Justice Vikram Aggarwal praised the arrangements and the hospitality extended to the delegation. “We are satisfied with the security and the overall atmosphere. I would urge people across India to visit Kashmir and experience its unmatched beauty and warmth,” he said during an interaction with local media.

From hotel owners and houseboat operators to artisans and tour guides, those who depend on tourism for their livelihood have welcomed the visit as a symbolic boost to a sector still recovering from the aftershocks of recent challenges. According to several travel agencies, the judges’ trip has sparked renewed inquiries, particularly from North India.

Tourism officials have also noted the broader impact of the visit. “When influential figures choose Kashmir for their leisure, it helps dispel doubts and rebuild confidence. The fact that the judges came with their families speaks volumes,” said a senior official from the Tourism Department.

As Kashmir continues its slow but determined march toward economic normalcy, this visit serves as a reminder that the Valley’s lakes, gardens, and cultural warmth remain a draw, resilient in the face of adversity and radiant with possibility. (With KNS and KNO inputs)
