SRINAGAR: A group of four Kashmiri students from the Law Department at AMITY University in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly faced harassment from locals and were subsequently taken into custody by Noida police on Wednesday.

The detention occurred subsequent to their report to the police regarding an alleged altercation with locals near their hostel.

Expressing concern, the Jammu and Kashmir Students’ Association remarked on Thursday that instead of addressing the actions of those responsible for the harassment, law enforcement opted to detain the four students who had been subjected to physical aggression.

According to the association, the families of the affected students have sought their assistance and have urged for the immediate release of their children.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students’ Association has also reached out to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Noida Member of Parliament Dr Mahesh Sharma, appealing for their intervention to secure the release of the detained students and ensure their well-being.
