Independent lawmaker representing Lanagte assembly segment Er Rasheed Thursday appealed Omar Abdullah and Ms Mehbooba Mufti to “rise to the occasion and ask New Delhi about the bitter realities”, which it has been denying all these years.
In a statement issued today, Rasheed said, “New Delhi is not only running away from the political process but seems to have made up its mind to punish Kashmiris for their revolt and manage the crisis rather trying to resolve it.”
“Not only that most of the TV Channels are showing just one version of what is happening on the streets of Kashmir but are repeatedly indulging in character assassination of Hurriyat leaders and masses of Kashmir,” he alleged.
“GoI has shamefully not only blocked internet and mobile services in most parts of the valley but has not been facilitating entry of life saving drugs to the valley. Police are busy in hiding its atrocities and sending its informers to houses of youth in every part of valley and summoning them to police stations for their alleged involvement in the protests,” he added.
Rasheed asked Ms Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah that it is a “golden opportunity for them to shun their differences and call spade a spade, otherwise the Unionist parties may have to face the same situation they faced in early 90s for their dual character and working against the legitimate rights of their people”.
“Time has proven that whatsoever both Omar and Mehbooba have been preaching in and outside Assembly was far away from the reality and Kashmiris don’t need peace like that of graveyard but want resolution to Kashmir dispute outside Indian constitution,” the lawmaker said.
He also appealed world community to understand that all “under-ground movements, need not to be dealt with the same yard stick and time has proven that Burhan like other militants has proved the true darling of Kashmiris, no matter how much Indian media and security agencies may deny”. “One may differ a million times with the approach of militants but they have proven that their writ runs beyond guns.”
Rasheed reiterated that India and Pakistan should stop blame game and “must talk to militants and other people, who are the true representatives of sacrifices and aspirations”.
