The residents, commuters, and students from various villages of Alusteng area alleged that due to the inadequate number of passenger vehicles on Hazratbal _ Nagbal route here,  they have to face the difficulties to reach their destinations.

The angry commuters blamed the transport department for their sufferings and threatened to block the roads if the demand would not be fulfilled within a week.

They further said that the sumo drivers and the bus driver are blaming each other for the irregularities in traffic on the peak hours due to which the residents of the area face the nuisance.

The students from adjoining areas like Syedpora, Nowbug, Warpoh, Shuhama, Hadoora, Wanihama villages assembled at main Bus stop Bakura to protest, demanding the smooth and regular transport facilities in the area

Sohail Ahmad Mir a resident of Bakura said that despite residing in the vicinity of the Srinagar City, it is very difficult for us to get a vehicle to the board and reach the destinies on time.

He said that district administration has totally neglected this area.

“If occasionally we get any vehicle they are overloaded by the passengers and it is very difficult to board on these buses especially for female students,” he said.

A group of students  told  Kashmir life that they are unable to reach the schools and colleges on time and due to that they miss their daily 1-2 classes, and sometimes educational institutions do not allow them to enter to the school premises

They said that authorities should wake up from a deep slumber and ensure more passenger buses in the area during morning hours.

Basit Ahmad a student from Shuhama area said that he has to wait for 1 and half hour daily to board a bus .it is very difficult for us to get a seat in the sumo as they come fully loaded from the Nagbal Chowk

An agent working at shah I Hamdan Sumo stand exchange road requesting anonymity  said that mostly Sumo drivers leave  the Nagbal stand after full passengers  due to which the passengers of adjacent areas suffer

However, ARTO Srinagar Arif Parvaiz Shah told Kashmir life that he has not received any complaint regarding this issue earlier.

Shah said, he will call the concerned transport companies very soon and the matter would be solved as soon as possible.
