SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday reviewed the arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra during a visit to the Yatra Transit Camp and Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar, directing officials to ensure that every pilgrim receives round-the-clock care and faces no inconvenience during the pilgrimage.
The Lieutenant Governor interacted with officials and pilgrims and assessed facilities being provided at the transit camp. He instructed the administration to ensure seamless arrangements from registration to accommodation and food.
“From registration to accommodation and food, no pilgrim should face any inconvenience. It must be our collective responsibility to make their stay in Jammu and Kashmir divine and comfortable,” Sinha told the officials.
He reviewed the arrangements for accommodation, sanitation, security, healthcare, drinking water, power supply, firefighting measures and other essential services being provided by various departments to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
The Lieutenant Governor said the higher turnout of devotees during the first week of this year’s pilgrimage compared to the corresponding period last year reflected growing faith in the annual Yatra and would also provide a boost to tourism and the local economy.
He also called for greater promotion of Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts and handloom products among pilgrims visiting the Union Territory.
“I want that the rich handicrafts and handloom products of Jammu and Kashmir should travel across the country and this unique heritage find a place in every devotee’s home. This will honour our artisans and it will also strengthen the spirit of the One District One Product campaign, weaving together faith, culture and prosperity,” he said.
Sinha commended the coordinated efforts of the District Administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, police, security forces and other line departments involved in the conduct of the pilgrimage. He stressed the need to maintain close coordination and vigilance to ensure effective crowd management, a hassle-free registration process and timely dissemination of information to pilgrims throughout the Yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor also directed officials to take strict legal action against those involved in fraudulent registration practices.
The visit was attended by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Chief Executive Officer Mandeep K. Bhandari, Inspector General of Police Kashmir V K Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Deputy Inspector General of Police Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar G V Sundeep Chakravarthy, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, Municipal Commissioner Srinagar Faz Lul Haseeb and other senior officers.
