SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today held a public outreach programme at the Raabita Office in Gupkar, Srinagar, where he met several delegations and issued on-spot instructions for the redressal of public grievances.
During the session, former Minister Mohammad Ashraf Mir raised developmental concerns related to Athwajan, Pantha Chowk and nearby areas. Students from SPS Library, MA Road, sought extended hours and better internet connectivity. The Chief Minister assured action on their demands.
A delegation from Khankah-e-Moula, led by Peerzada Masood Hamdani, highlighted issues regarding the shrine’s maintenance and other local matters. Retired veterinary staff raised concerns over pay anomalies and pensions, while J&K Sports Council employees demanded pensionary benefits.
Social workers urged support for Special Cells for Women. JKEDI employees discussed employment-related issues. A group of visually impaired and physically challenged persons requested free transport, institutional accessibility, skill development, and a single-window grievance mechanism.
Hoteliers led by Mushtaq Burza sought assistance for the tourism sector. Representatives from Kishtwar raised concerns about Waqf properties and local development.
The Chief Minister assured quick action on genuine concerns and directed officials to resolve issues immediately where possible. Delegations of public representatives also flagged issues related to old-age pensions, drinking water and infrastructure.
Advisor to the CM, Nasir Aslam Wani, and senior officers were present.
