SRINAGAR: Prices of both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders have been increased across India, with the revised rates coming into effect nationwide from Friday.

Under the latest revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been raised by Rs 60, while a 19-kg commercial cylinder now costs Rs 115 more.
The increase is expected to place additional pressure on household budgets, particularly for families that rely on cooking gas for daily needs. Commercial establishments such as restaurants, hotels and catering services may also face higher operating costs following the rise in commercial cylinder prices.
Industry observers attributed the hike to volatility in global energy markets, driven in part by escalating tensions in West Asia.
The ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly involving Iran, Israel and the United States, have raised concerns over disruptions to energy supply routes. Analysts note that uncertainties surrounding shipments through the Strait of Hormuz — a key global corridor for crude oil and natural gas — often influence fuel prices and subsequently impact domestic LPG rates.
