Authorities on Friday did not allow the mandatory weekly congregational prayers for the second consecutive day at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.
Reports said that the authorities had locked down the Jamia Masjid and also imposed restrictions in most of the parts of Kashmir following the killing of militant commander Zakir Musa.
Hurriyat (m) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned the government decision to disallow Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid.
“Condemn that for the second time in #Ramadan jumma prayers disallowed at #JamaMasjid. Extremely sad that each day #Kashmir loses its promising young in one way or other to the lingering conflict. Urge all stakeholders to come together to put an end to this daily killing and violence and bring peace to this beleaguered land by resolving the Kashmir issue (sic),” Mirwaiz said in a tweet.
