In a detailed statement, the Ministry said all fuel outlets across the country are adequately stocked and operating normally, with no rationing in place. It urged citizens not to be misled by what it termed a “coordinated misinformation campaign” aimed at creating unnecessary panic.

The government said India’s position as a major global refiner and exporter ensures steady domestic availability of petroleum products. It added that isolated instances of panic buying at some outlets were driven by misleading content on social media, but supplies were quickly replenished.

On crude oil, the Ministry said India continues to receive sufficient supplies from a diverse base of over 40 countries, offsetting any disruptions linked to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Refineries are operating at over full capacity, and crude supplies for the next 60 days have already been secured.

It further clarified that the country has adequate reserves, with around 60 days of stock currently available, countering reports suggesting limited запас. Authorities said India remains well-positioned to meet demand even amid global uncertainties.

On LPG, the Ministry said there is no shortage, with domestic production increased significantly and additional imports already secured. Daily supply of cylinders has stabilised after a temporary spike caused by panic ordering.

The government also said the promotion of piped natural gas (PNG) is part of a long-term energy strategy and not a response to any supply crisis.

Warning of strict action, the Ministry said spreading false information about essential commodities is punishable under law and urged the public to rely only on official sources for updates.
