At least 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims are feared dead after a passenger bus collided with a diesel tanker near Medina on Monday, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. Early reports suggest that most of the victims were from Telangana, including a significant number from Hyderabad. Among them were at least 20 women and 11 children.
The pilgrims were travelling back to Medina after performing Umrah in Mecca when the crash occurred. Rescue efforts remain under way, and the Indian Embassy and Consulate have set up a 24×7 control room to support affected families.
