SRINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-day visit from 13th to 15th September, covering Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for infrastructure and development projects exceeding Rs 71,850 crore, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday, as reported by multiple media reports.
The tour will begin in Mizoram on Saturday, where Modi will launch initiatives worth over Rs 9,000 crore in Aizawl. These include projects in rail, road, energy, and sports sectors. He will also flag off three new express trains linking Sairang with Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata, significantly improving connectivity in the region.
Key projects in Mizoram feature the Aizawl Bypass Road, several inter-district roadways, and the Chhimtuipui River Bridge, expected to reduce travel time by two hours. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for an LPG bottling plant and a Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall.
Later the same day, Modi will travel to Manipur to launch projects worth over Rs 7,300 crore, including five National Highway initiatives and an urban development project in Imphal. He will also inaugurate works valued at over Rs 1,200 crore.
The day will conclude in Assam, where he will attend the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati.
On 14th September, the Prime Minister will continue his visit in Assam, launching infrastructure and industrial projects worth more than Rs 8,530 crore. These include Darrang Medical College, a bioethanol plant in Numaligarh, and the foundation of a new polypropylene facility at the Numaligarh Refinery.
On the final day, 15th September, Modi will visit Kolkata to inaugurate and address the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025, highlighting India’s defence and strategic priorities.
The tour will conclude in Bihar, where he will inaugurate the new terminal at Purnea airport and launch projects worth Rs 36,000 crore. Modi will also unveil the National Makhana Board to boost production, processing, and export of makhana, a key regional crop.
The visit underscores the government’s focus on infrastructure expansion, regional connectivity, and economic development across eastern and northeastern India ahead of upcoming national and state-level developments.
