According to a police statement, the action was taken against assets identified during investigations as having been acquired through proceeds generated from alleged drug trafficking activities.

In the first case, Police Station Nigeen attached a double-storeyed residential house along with land at Habbak Crossing, Hazratbal, valued at around Rs 1.30 crore. The property belongs to Rahil Manzoor Malla of Habbak Crossing and was attached under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 30/2021 registered under Section 8/21 of the Act.

In a separate operation, Police Station Soura attached a residential house worth approximately Rs 2.20 crore belonging to Adil Rashid Gudoo of Keel Khan Gali, Haider Colony, Upper Soura. The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with alleged involvement in illicit narcotics trafficking.

Police said both properties have been formally attached and frozen after being identified as assets allegedly derived from the proceeds of the narcotics trade.

Under the attachment orders, the owners are prohibited from selling, transferring, leasing, altering, disposing of, or creating any third-party interest in the properties pending further legal proceedings.

Police said the move forms part of a broader strategy to dismantle drug trafficking networks by targeting not only those involved in the trade but also assets allegedly acquired through illicit earnings. The action, they said, is aimed at protecting society, particularly young people, from the menace of drug abuse and advancing the objective of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar Police also appealed to the public to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking, substance abuse and other criminal activities, stressing that community cooperation remains essential in efforts to curb the drug menace.
