Revealing that Muslim majority areas in Jammu province were facing “injustice with regard to development”, a Lawmaker from the region Wednesday asked state government to attach his assembly segment with Kashmir province.

Speaking during debate on grants to Planning department held by Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, Banihal Congress Lawmaker, Vikar Rasool, said that his people are “ready to work with Kashmir administration”.

“We are fed up,” he told the house, “we are getting less funds and our areas and developmental activities are not being taken up.”

He said that Banihal being an important place along Srinagar-Jammu is facing indifferent attitude by PDP-BJP coalition government.

“Employees from Jammu posted in Banihal don’t join offices in my constituency,” he claimed, “If you like only BJP (Lawmakers), leave us. We will go with Kashmir province (for governance issues).”

In his fifteen minutes speech, Vikar Rasool asserted that Congress will not “let communal elements destroy the secular fabric of J&K”.

“Everyone will live here; Hindus in Kashmir and Muslims in Jammu. We will uphold the secular values and will not let anyone destroy it,” he added.
