Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik Monday called for a march to Shopian on Wednesday (March 7), for a congregational condolence of persons killed in army firing.

In a statement, the JRL said already a protest strike call has been given for the same day against shifting of Kashmiri inmates especially lifers and under-trials from Srinagar Central jail to Jammu jails and inflicting harm to them.

“Leaders and activists and constituents along with people will march towards Shopian to pay homage to innocent martyrs,” the statement said.

Terming yesterday’s Shopian killings as “another example of brutal Indian aggression”, JRL leaders in a joint statement said that “forces and police are deployed to kill Kashmiris and pro-India politicians and political parties especially RSS backed Mehbooba regime is deployed to provide a legal cover to these killers.”

“Pro-India politicians and rulers are directly responsible for these massacres and will have to answer for their crimes in accordance with the law of retribution,” they said.

“Shopian massacre by forces has once again demonstrated the brutal face of Indian democracy in Kashmir,” the joint leadership said.

“RSS backed PDP regime along with all pro-India politicians and political parties are directly responsible for this massacre,” they said.

JRL said that the staying of the probe against the army major openly involved in the killing of three civilians in Shopian by the Supreme Court of India, despite an FIR being lodged against him in name by the police, is a travesty of justice.

JRL said that not that people of Kashmir from their experience have any hope of justice being delivered to the civilians mostly youth, killed in cold blood by forces.

“What is more shocking and deceitful in this case is that the counsel for J&k government told the court that the name of the accused major, Aditya Kumar, does not feature in the FIR, while they all along were beating the drum that the accused in the case has been identified and named and definitely justice will be done,” JRL added.

Meanwhile, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who led a joint JRL protest rally against Shopian Killings at Lal Chowk today and was arrested by police has been now shifted to central jail Srinagar on a six days judicial remand, JRL in a statement said.
