SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1 crore in Lawaypora under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The property, which includes a single-storeyed residential house and 17 marlas of land, belongs to Zubair Ahmad Sheikh, son of Late Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, a known drug peddler involved in multiple cases across Jammu and Kashmir.
A police spokesperson in statement said, “The seizure was carried out under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act following an investigation that revealed the property had been acquired using proceeds from drug trafficking. Police said the property cannot be sold, transferred, or dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.”
“Zubair Ahmad Sheikh is the accused in FIR No. 39/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Shalteng. Police said the accused has been operating in several districts and mainly targeted local youth, posing a threat to public health and safety. The attachment of his property is part of the broader strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting drug trafficking in the region.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling the drug menace and urged the public to support these efforts by providing information related to narcotics activity.
