SRINAGAR: Three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been allotted cadres in Madhya Pradesh, Manipur and West Bengal under the latest cadre allocation following the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination.
Mohammad Muneeb Bhat, a resident of Danter in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, has been allocated the Madhya Pradesh cadre after securing All India Rank (AIR) 131 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Currently serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Services, Bhat cracked the examination on his sixth and final attempt after beginning his preparation in 2017. A B.Tech graduate in Civil Engineering from Lovely Professional University, Punjab, he had earlier qualified the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service in 2023 while continuing his UPSC preparations. He pursued coaching at Vajiram and Ravi, Hamdard Study Circle and Jamia Millia Islamia’s Residential Coaching Academy in Delhi.
Vishal Deep Chandan, a native of Jawahar Nagar in Rajouri district, has been allotted the Manipur cadre after securing AIR 810.
Before joining the IPS, Chandan was serving as a Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officer and held postings as District Information Officer Poonch and Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Poonch. His achievement was widely hailed by the local administration and civil society in Rajouri.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Haider from Choskore Panikhar in Kargil district of Ladakh has been allocated the West Bengal cadre.
Haider, who secured AIR 832, is currently undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad. He had earlier cleared the 2024 Civil Services Examination with AIR 633, qualifying for the IPS, and was also allotted the AGMUT cadre under the Indian Forest Service in December 2025.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Haider had worked with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for three years before preparing full-time for the civil services examination.
The cadre allocation of the three officers is being seen as a major milestone for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, reflecting the growing representation of candidates from the region in the country’s elite civil services.
