SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that three more organisations in Jammu and Kashmir have disassociated themselves from the separatist Hurriyat Conference, calling it a significant sign of increasing trust in the Indian Constitution among the people of the Valley.

Shah, who is currently in Jammu and Kashmir on the final leg of his three-day visit to the Union Territory, announced the social media platform X. He said the Jammu Kashmir Islamic Political Party, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Democratic League, and the Kashmir Freedom Front have formally severed ties with the Hurriyat Conference.

“It is a prominent demonstration of the people’s trust in the Constitution of India within the Valley,” Shah said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a united and powerful Bharat stands “even more bolstered” due to this shift. With this development, eleven such organisations have distanced themselves from separatist politics and extended support to the Indian Union.
The announcement comes as the central government continues to emphasise political normalcy, grassroots democratic participation, and a decline in separatist sentiment in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
