SRINAGAR: US President Donald Trump has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join a proposed “Board of Peace”, an international body aimed at working towards lasting peace in Gaza and the wider Middle East.

The invitation was conveyed through a formal letter sent by President Trump to the Prime Minister. The letter was made public on social media by the United States Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor.
In the letter, Trump said it was his “great honour” to invite Modi to participate in efforts to consolidate peace in the Middle East and to pursue what he described as a bold new approach to resolving global conflicts. The US President announced the formation of the Board of Peace as part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to US officials, the board is intended to serve as a new international mechanism to promote stability, reconstruction and long-term security in Gaza and neighbouring regions.
Trump referred in his letter to his announcement on September 29 outlining a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, along with a 20-point roadmap for peace in the Middle East. The plan includes proposals to transform Gaza into a demilitarised and deradicalised territory that would pose no security threat to neighbouring countries.
In October, Israel and the militant group Hamas agreed to Trump’s peace framework, paving the way for subsequent ceasefire arrangements.
The invitation to India reflects Washington’s push to involve key global partners in post-conflict diplomacy, as efforts continue to stabilise Gaza following months of intense fighting and humanitarian crisis.
