SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir has delivered a standout performance at the National India Skills Competition 2025–26, securing a gold medal and multiple honours, marking a significant achievement for the Union Territory on the national stage.
In a major highlight, Diksha, a student of National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar, clinched the gold medal in Fashion Technology. With this win, she has earned the opportunity to represent India at the upcoming WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China.
The Union Territory also secured several Medallions of Excellence, underlining the high level of skill, discipline and competitiveness demonstrated by its participants.
Mission Director, Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission, Leena Pada, lauded the achievement and dedicated the success to officials involved in effective implementation of the programme, terming it a milestone for the region’s evolving skill development ecosystem.
Secretary, Skill Development, Rajeev Ranjan Kumar, also congratulated the students, praising their hard work and commitment.
Officials said that under focused guidance at the highest levels, Jammu and Kashmir has been steadily strengthening its skilling initiatives, resulting in consistent achievements at national-level competitions.
Earlier, the Union Territory had also recorded an impressive performance at the India Skills North Regional Competition 2025.
At the national event, Jammu and Kashmir fielded 57 candidates, who collectively secured 27 medals, including 2 gold, 3 silver, 9 bronze and 13 Medallions of Excellence across disciplines such as Fashion Technology, Bricklaying and Software Testing.
Out of 63 skills in the competition, the Union Territory participated in 28, reflecting strong representation and competitive performance. The continued success is expected to inspire more youth to pursue vocational excellence and represent Jammu and Kashmir at national and global platforms.
