The decision was taken on the occasion of World Milk Day following a review of rising input costs, including procurement of milk, cattle feed, fodder, transportation, veterinary services, packaging materials, fuel, gas and other operational expenses, the association said.

Sandeep Singh Chib, speaking on behalf of the association, said World Milk Day serves as an occasion to acknowledge the contribution of dairy farmers and to highlight the need for sustainable support to the sector. He said the revised pricing would help strengthen the dairy value chain and ensure continued milk production.

He further urged milk producers to implement a corresponding increase of Rs 5 per litre or kilogram at the vendor level so that the benefit of the revision reaches farmers directly.

The association said the revised rates are intended to support thousands of dairy farmers while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the dairy sector and maintaining a steady supply of milk to consumers.

On the occasion, the JKDFA also welcomed a prohibitory order issued by Smita Sethi regarding loose paneer consignments brought from neighbouring states and stored or transported under unhygienic and non-refrigerated conditions.

Chib said the move would help improve food safety standards and protect public health across Jammu and Kashmir.
