Terming the holding of elections with ‘coercive methods’ as undemocratic, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) Sunday said that New Delhi, as routine, is trying to mislead the world community.

Commenting on the upcoming assembly elections in the state, the spokesperson of the amalgam said, “Our policy of election boycott is clear. Rest is upto people to decide whether to take part in polls or to boycott.”

While questioning the state administration, he said if there is a NOTA option then how can election boycott be an unlawful activity. Reiterating its election boycott call, he claimed New Delhi, while conducting the polls here with the help of its forces, is trying to mislead the world community by projecting the participation of Kashmiris in polls as “acknowledgement of Indian rule.”

The spokesperson condemned the ban on international agencies by New Delhi who were eager to do developmental work here. “When Azad Kashmir was struck with natural calamity, Pakistan government didn’t stop such agencies to do their work and they did a lot of developmental work there but India, on the other hand, is deliberately doing so in order to keep international agencies unaware about the political situation of Kashmir,” he added.
