In an urgent advisory issued through social media, the Indian Embassy in Iran reiterated its earlier warning, citing the latest developments in the region.
“In view of the latest developments in the region, the Embassy reiterates its earlier advice to all Indian Nationals to avoid any travel to Iran,” the Embassy said.
It further advised Indian nationals currently in Iran to exit the country using available transport options.
The advisory came after Israel launched airstrikes targeting central and western Iran on Monday in response to missile attacks from Tehran, marking a further escalation in hostilities between the two countries.
India had earlier, on April 7, advised its citizens in Iran to remain where they were for 48 hours following heightened tensions in the region.
The latest warning also follows remarks by Donald Trump, who reportedly warned of severe consequences if Iran failed to meet a deadline to end its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to official figures shared by MEA, around 9,000 Indian nationals, including students, were in Iran when the conflict intensified following strikes on Iranian targets by Israel and the United States on February 28. Nearly 1,800 Indians have since returned home.
