In a handwritten message shared on social media through his wife, Gitanjali J. Angmo, from Safdarjung Hospital, Wangchuk linked “freedom from injustice” to alleged examination paper leaks and “freedom from fear” to what he described as his “illegal detention”.

The note, posted on Wangchuk’s X account, read: “20th July. India’s second freedom movement. Freedom from injustice (like paper leaks). Freedom from fear (my illegal detention).”

It further stated: “March to the Parliament. Please make it a big success.”

The message was signed: “Sent through Gitanjali from my illegal detention at Safdarjung.”

Wangchuk has repeatedly alleged that he is being kept at Safdarjung Hospital against his wishes after being removed from the Jantar Mantar protest site. Authorities have not publicly responded to his allegation of “illegal detention”.

The proposed Parliament march has been called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which is demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, reforms to the examination system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Wangchuk joined the CJP-led agitation on June 28 and was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital after a prolonged hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.

According to organisers, Wangchuk has continued his indefinite hunger strike from the Delhi hospital and, as of July 19, has entered the 22nd day of fasting. His protest centres on demands for the resignation of the Union Education Minister over alleged examination scandals, including the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.
