Constituents say they need to connect more with people especially the youth. Earlier, Hurriyat had employees’ bodies, traders unions and even Kashmir University Teachers Association as its member. Admits Nayeem Khan: “We have lost connection (with people). Hurriyat requires expansion and political culture to carry forward ideas and opinion. There is dismay among people and mistrust among constituents. Only fair democratic set up can help the Hurriyat to evolve. We need to have youth with us and other civil society members.”

After prolonged silence, there are murmurs of reaction. The Executive Council meeting that issued show cause notices to three leaders returnable within three days also decided to seek Shah’s suggestions in black and white. The only condition, sources said, is to ensure his suggestions with regard to alliance are come to the alliance and not to the public.
