Dastgeer Sahib Shrine in Srinagar’s Khanyar area caught mysterious fire on June 25, 2012. The flames subsequently reduced the 200-year-old shrine into a heap of rubble. And soon state government started restructuring the structure. After one and half years, the concrete structure has been erected on the earlier place. Bilal Bahadur recollects some past and present glimpses of the shrine.

There are five Graves Situated inside it. It is said that it is of the one of the members of Shiekh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control at the shrine that was mostly made up of wood.

However ancient relics of the saint, housed in the Shrine were saved and retrieved. Officials said since they were kept in a fire-proof safe they remained unharmed.

And then, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the Dastgeer Sahib shrine would be restored within two-and-a-half year to its original structural characteristic.
