Mehraj-ud-din is not just an inspiration for the footballers of the state but an example for all the youth. Hailing from a modest background, Mehraj toiled in football fields of Srinagar, to become an integral part of the Indian football team.
Mehraj made his first appearance in Indian national team in 2005. The mid-fielder has also played with Mohun Bagan and East Bengal – the two major West Bengal based football clubs of the country.
Nicknamed as ‘the Tank’, for his physical strength, Mehraj drew inspiration from his father Mohammad Sultan Wadoo, who is a well known footballer of the state.
Mehraj started as a striker with Iqbal Sports club. From here he went to national clubs like HAL, ITI, Sporting Club de Goa, Mohun Bagan and now East Bengal.
Mehraj-ud-din, thanks to his  handsome features, has received a number of modeling offers. “I had recieved many modeling offers,” Mehrajuddin points out, but “the first thing for me is football.”
The tech-savvy footballer has his own website-www.mehrajuddin.com, through which he tries to reach out to aspiring footballers. In a message to the youth he says, “No dream is impossible to achieve if strived with urge and determination”.
