Muzamil Ibrahim

He has been a lead actor in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Dhokha. His work won him a lot of acclaim. Muzammil Ibrahim’s road to Bollywood opened for him after winning Gladrags Manhunt Contest as Mr. India in 2003.

Muzammil participated in the contest when he was in the in first year of mechanical engineering. “One day, in the canteen, I ordered an omelette and the paper on which it was served happened to carry the advertisement about a modelling competition,” he recalls.

Winning the Gladrags Mr. India contest kick-started his career in modelling. He was nominated for “Best Newcomer” for his role in Dhokha at both the Filmfare awards, Star TV awards and the Stardust awards.

He has also been awarded The Best Male Model by Times of India and The Hindustan Times for three years in a row in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Also won The Most glamorous Male Model by Zoom in 2005, Winner Apex Award for The Most Stylish Male Model in 2005. He is listed in the Top Ten Most Desirable Bachelor Men in India.

“Coming from Kashmir Valley, I have seen the beauty of the state being ravaged by the uncertain tumult. Now I am happy to be in a movie that had influenced the youth against the melancholy,” Muzammil says. “The youth of today are burdened by the problems faced by their elders in the past. But times have changed. We are progressing towards a better future.”

As a child, Muzammil won the Rashtrapati Award for bravery (1994) for rescuing a drowning 55-year-old woman who had gone for a swim in the Arabian Sea at Goa. “I always wanted to be in the good books of my teachers, I was seldom naughty. Since, I was very ambitious, I still can’t stop talking about the numerous certificates that have made it to my shelf,” says the 1984-born model-turned-actor.

Besides working with top brands in India, he has done many international campaigns and is a popular model in Bangkok and Italy. He has featured in many music videos like Lucky Ali’s Kabhie Aisa Lagta Hai and Pardesiya with Rakhi Sawant.

Muzammil got his break with Pooja Bhatt’s Dhoka. His next release is with Nana Patekar and Rimi Sen in Horn Ok Pleasss.
